BACKGROUND
Renny Krupinski is one of the foremost fight arrangers and action coordinators working in the UK today. He’s worked as a stunt coordinator with many major companies throughout Britain, Europe and in America, as well as with some of the world’s top directors and actors.including the RSC; The Royal Exchange, Manchester; Shakespeare’s Globe, Opera North and Northern Ballet Theatre.
As a fight director, he is particularly well known and respected for his gritty realism and the ability to achieve what some consider impossible in terms of punches and slaps. Working in “the round” on some of the greatest stages in the world has inspired him to create exclusive, new and innovative techniques that have revolutionised his fight direction.
Renny’s acting experience includes the part which brought him fame in Brookside - the menacing Sizzler. He’s worked with some of the best companies throughout the country, and he was awarded the prestigious Manchester Evening News Award for his ”Best Supporting Performance” as Wemmick in Greg Hersov’s Manchester Royal Exchange production of Great Expectations.
Renny is a dynamic director at home with both the classics and contemporary work. He has directed for many quality companies, most notably Manchester Library and Oldham Coliseum, and with his own company Ithaka and is always interested in challenging and inspiring propositions.
As a writer, Renny came to the attention of the BBC in 1986 with his play KATIE CROWDER, whereupon he was commissioned to write several half hour comedy plays. He then won the prestigious Michael Elliott award in the International Mobil Playwriting Competition with his hard-hitting drama BARE...which he subsequently toured and performed to great acclaim, having produced it as well as creating the fights. This was followed by commissions to write for THE BILL, as well as further work for radio and the stage.
Renny is currently elected Vice-Chair of the British Equity Register of Fight Directors Committee where he strives to bring higher levels of safety and realism to all media and the profession as a whole. He is also chair of the newly-formed Academy of Performance Combat (APC). He has been teaching since 1992 and has taken students to the highest grades possible in internatioanlly recognised fight exams with his skill and expertise. Currently he teaches at Manchester Metropolitan University and has choreographed most of the fights at the Royal Exchange in Manchester since the mid 90’s, and has been regular fight aranger for Coronation Street since 2000. He is a keen horseman, can do just about whatever is asked of him on a horse...and in 2005, rode across the Gobi desert single-handed, having lived with the nomadic herdsmen and learned riding techniques from the Mongolian horsemen first hand. New challenges await.Directing fights for Dominic Hill
